Protect your eyes from UV
Try and wear good quality sunglasses when out in the sun and protect your eyes from UV. Wearing good sunglass lenses that block 100% of UVA and UVB can help, especially if you have cataracts or macular degeneration.

It’s important to keep on top of your eye checks. However often our Optician requests to see you – try and get yourself booked in to ensure not only that your vision is as good as it can be, but everything is OK with the health of your eyes.
Follow the 20-20-20 Rule
For those of you who work on screens, it’s important to give your eyes regular breaks. Follow the 20-20-20 rule if you can. Every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds. This helps reduce digital eye strain, dry eyes and fatigue.

How do I book an eye test online?
Booking an eye test online has never been easier. CLICK HERE to visit our online booking page where you’ll just need to enter a few details and you can check our upcoming availability.
How much is an eye test?
A full private comprehensive eye test is £49.50 and includes the OCT scan as standard. If you qualify for a free NHS test, you can upgrade to have the OCT scan for an additional £25 if you wish.
What are varifocals?
Varifocal lenses, also known as progressive lenses, are lenses that provide multiple focal points in a seamless transition. They are designed for people with presbyopia, allowing clear vision at different distances – near, intermediate, and far – without the visible lines found in bifocal or trifocal lenses. The top portion of the lens is for distance vision, the middle for intermediate vision, and the bottom for reading or close-up tasks.
How quickly can varifocals be made?
We normally advise that varifocals take a week or two. Some of our varifocal lenses come back within a few days, but equally sometimes we may face issues out of our control meaning they take a little longer to come back.
Do you do hearing tests?
Yes! We do FREE hearing tests and supply private hearing aids should you require them. Our qualified Audiologist will be able to go through your options with you after explaining your hearing test results.
My lenses are scratched. Can the scratches be removed?
Unfortunately, scratches can’t be removed from lenses without altering the power in them. We’ll always do our best to get you back up and running and some of our lenses come with a scratch warranty so it’s always worth asking us.
Do you do ear wax removal?
Yes we do. We have fully trained ear care professionals and can offer ear wax removal via both microsuction or irrigation. Click HERE to find out more about our ear wax removal service.
Do you do contact lenses?
We do contact lens checks and contact lens trials. However, we made the decision in February 2025 to stop supplying contact lenses. This came as a result of constant price increases by the suppliers and general supply issues. We are advising our patients to order their contact lenses online through reputable online suppliers which we can help with.
